Go Blue Jackets

Sunday we took the boys downtown for some fun. First we went to Barley's. It's a restaurant near Nationwide Arena (where the Blue Jackets play) and we enjoyed some yummmy food. This part of the adventure was mainly for big Dave and me :) Oakley is not good at restaurants yet. He basically wants to be held and wants to grab everything within sight and if he can't have his way well then he'll just scream and cry until everyone in the restaurant is unhappy too. But I will say that he wasn't too bad at Barley's, although it helped that big Dave walked him outside a couple of times so I could finish my burger and then I held him so Dave could finish his food. Afterward, we walked to the big marketplace across the street and then we walked to Nationwide Arena for the Blue Jackets game (the Columbus Blue Jackets are a professional hockey team). Davey says his fave part of the game is when the blimp flies around and when the parachutes fall (little parachutes carrying free t-shirts and souvenirs). He says his least fave part is when the cannon shoots, which happens after the Jackets score a goal. Each time he covered his ears and laid his head on my lap. He absolutely hates loud noises. Despite the cannon, Davey loves going to the games and in fact, talks all about how he wants to play hockey and win the Stanley Cup someday so he can put milk and toys in it (his words, not mine). Oakley was terrific at the game. He just stared calmly at the jumbo tron most of the time but when the team scored and it got really loud, he curled his bottom lip like he was about to cry but he never did. He was great. Also we got compliments on his eyes and his hair. AND he made it on the jumbo tron! He was hanging from the bjorn on Dave's chest and suddenly the three of us were on the big screen! Dave and I smiled and pointed and everyone around us looked on and smiled, it was cool. I think Oakley's hair was the big attraction.
