I can't even explain how thrilling it was to watch my son in the pool. What a little fish! Obviously he wasn't actually swimming, but he wanted to and tried to! He kicked, he paddled, he splashed, and he smiled and laughed the entire time. We got so tickled watching him enjoy himself in the water. As you'll see, his Noni and Papa helped him "swim" and play and he couldn't get enough. Being the concerned Mommy, I slathered on the sunblock and it worked! Davey got a very slight tan in some areas but no redness.. even after days in the sun. Thank you SPF 50. I love these pictures... you can see how much fun we had in the pool. Davey is totally fearless in the water... which is great, and a little scary. My job this summer is to teach that boy some swimming skills.

Pumpkinhead
This morning during breakfast, Davey was a bit fussy. He was tired of being in the high chair and his patience was running low. As I lifted a big spoonful of pumpkin puree to his mouth, he flung his arm up to his face and hit the spoon, the lump of pumpkin flew off and landed right on his forehead. I laughed and laughed and he started laughing too. I ran upstairs to grab the camera and luckily snapped this picture just seconds before the big blob of pumpkin fell off his forehead. Ah... now I can enjoy this sight for years to come. After b'fast, as usual, we moved to the living room floor for some playtime. He's still not crawling but you could say he's a professional pull-scooter. That's the best way to describe his belly transportation. He definitely gets where he wants to go... by pulling his body with his elbows and pushing the floor with his right knee. He's also learned how to get from a sitting position to a crawling one. Instead of just falling to one side, which he usually did and caused me panic, I'm happy to say now he leans forward, gets on all fours, and then plops on his belly for the pull-scoot.

Visiting Grandma and Nuh-Nuh
Davey and I took a scenic drive to Canyon Lake to see Grandma and Nuh-Nuh. As you can imagine, Davey gets showered with love and attention in their house. Nuh-Nuh is always giving him kisses and Grandma rarely puts Davey down... wants to hold him all the time. When she does put him down, she gets on the floor with him while he practices his "crawling". (It's a pull-scoot move really.) So we had a lot of fun!

Let the Babyproofing Begin
We have a new addition to our home, and the dogs are still getting used to her. She's white, strong and dependable. She's our new metal safety gate! Davey moves very fast now and we have to keep him away from the stairs. This gate stands between a wall and the banister at the top of the stairs. This will keep Davey inside the game room during play time. He's not crawling yet, but he can scoot himself across 8-10 feet within seconds.

Babyman Picture Mosaic
Just because I can't get enough of this little face! David is so right. I take a zillion pics of our kid within a matter of minutes and then I keep every single picture. But how can I not? I'm in love with each and every expression he makes. Took these about an hour ago during our morning play time.

Meat on the Horizon
We are two weeks away from introducing Davey to a mighty fine food group... meats! Our pediatrician told us not to start meats until Davey is 8 months. I'm looking forward to it... giving Davey a better variety of foods. He has such a healthy appetite... even for veggies and fruits. This morning, after his breastfast (yes, that's breastfast), he ate an entire banana mixed with organic, iron-fortified rice cereal. It was a pretty hefty amount of food but he ate every bit of it. Davey's weight has been right on target. When he turned 7 months, he weighed 18 pounds and measured 27 inches long... putting him near the 50th percentile for his age group. He is still eating homemade baby food... except when we travel... I have my limitations. His favorite food still seems to be pureed sweet apples. He also loves pumpkin sprinkled with cinnamon. He's eating baby oatmeal now, along with ultra-nutritious broccoli and spinach. I'll soon be introducing him to dairy foods like yogurt and certain cheeses. Well, I just heard the little guy... he's waking up from his morning nap. That's my cue. I'll leave you with a couple of cute naked baby pics I took this weekend...
