To celebrate David's and my 4th anniversary, we spent a few days in and around Fredricksburg. We brought the little man with and had sooo much fun sharing our vacation with him. We took him to Becker Winery and the next day we climbed to the top of Enchanted Rock. On the rock, David did all the heavy lifting, namely by carrying that 22 pound boy the entire way. I hauled the diaper bag which weighed less but not by much since we packed six water bottles, baby food, baby formula, and a giant bottle of sunscreen. Davey smiled and babbled as we climbed. He squealed at and charmed other climbers. He found the rock itself particularly fascinating...as we all do. Nearly everyone we passed or met along the climb had two things to say to us... 'What a cute, happy baby' and 'You should put sunscreen on him.' We smiled and assured them he was wearing a super thick layer of SPF 50 (an application that triggered whining and crying). I've learned not to be offended by strangers' casual meddling into our parenting skills...it's annoying but they're just trying to look out for a baby. So one of my fave pics is the first one below...we're at Becker Vineyard, sitting on the veranda sipping wine and sure enough... Davey poops. A big one. What else could we do? We just laid him down in the grass and changed him right there. The good news is we weren't kicked out. I think we can still go back.
The kitchen sink of our bed and breakfast... to some. To us... it's a baby spa. |
