A Thing For Faces
So if you've been around the little guy recently you know he's developed a thing for faces. If you smile and make funny faces at him... he absolutely delights in it. And if you let him within a few feet of your nose or chin... he'll have them both in his mouth in seconds. We think it's hilarious how he grabs for people's faces. And you know I'm there grabbing for my camera...

FIRST TOOTH!
oh I'm so excited! This morning when I got Davey out of his crib, I felt his lower gum and ouch! There is a sharp little tooth sticking out! We've been waiting for this day. Poor little man has been feeling that painful tooth for weeks, if not months. Last night, I gave Davey a bath, nursed him, rocked him, and put him down to sleep for the night. Then I left to do some shopping at Marshalls, YAY ME! Davey always falls asleep within ten minutes but not last night. David says he kept crying. So David rocked him several times and even let him watch part of the basketball game (which Davey loves) but when Davey still cried, David figured it was tooth pain. He rubbed Orajel on his lower gums and Davey finally fell asleep. So we figured there might be a chance we'd see a tooth today. So happy it's finally poked through. You know me... I'll take a picture of it just as soon as Davey will let me. The tooth is on the front bottom. I can't tell yet whether it's the right or left side.

Davey Meets Santa!
You better watch out, you better not cry....
No tears, no fears, he was a happy little boy in the jolly ol' fellow's arms. In fact, since there was no line behind us, Davey sat with Santa for probably 10 minutes. Davey told Santa he wants a little brother or sister by next Christmas. Kidding! Davey's Daddy just had a heart attack.
Davey had a great time with Santa, but Davey's Mommy did not. While we visited with him, Santa told us he had a different career before his true calling... years ago, he was a bouncer. He said he is excellent at guessing people's ages. So, he looked at my 30 year old face and guessed I am 38. Mommy wanted to tell Santa to shove his Ho Ho Ho's up a chimney. Other than Santa landing himself on Mommy's naughty list.... it was such fun seeing Davey meet Santa.

Davey's Trip to Naples
Auntie Colie makes bathtime-in-a-sink fun! |
Outta the way dishes! This sink is taken. |
Davey likes to pull on things... as you can see. Here, he's caught with a handful of Martini. |
Having fun hanging out with Papa and Noni. |

First Tooth Watch
Today was a fuss day. He didn't nap very well. He didn't eat as well as he usually does. He's been pretty grumpy... but who can blame him...it is a Monday. We just got back from a walk around our neighborhood, which he enjoys. But now he's crying again. Poor little man. We're going to take a warm bath, get some dinner (milk), and rock ourselves sleepy. Here are some pics I took today... during the brief time he was in a very happy mood.

VIDEO: Baby Talks & Blogs
Davey wanted me to step aside today. He took over the keyboard and decided to work on the the blog himself. And as you'll see in the video, he has a lot on his mind...

Need Help With That?
Sweet potatoes could be a fav with the babyman. Davey tried the orange root veggie for the first time yesterday. I chopped 2 sweet potatoes, steamed the pieces, then pureed them, thinning the mix with the boiled water that, I'm told, holds a lot of the nutrients from the veggies. I gave it the first taste and it was pretty darn yummy. Although, my tastebuds would prefer it smothered in butter and pepper. But we'll keep it simple for the babyman, for now. Davey made a funny face when he first tasted it; but ultimately, he swallowed more than he spit out and that my friends, is a spoon-fed success!
Just in case he didn't finish all the sweet potato puree, there was a Willowdog nearby to help with that.

Splish Splash
One of Davey's favorites is bathtime. He can be grumpy and fussy, but as soon as he sees Mommy running his bathwater, he calms down. It doesn't take much to make him laugh when he's soaking in the tub. Last night, I took a few photos of him enjoying his bath... ok 32 photos really. See, I told you, I'm ridiculous. Here are some of my favs from last night's fun. In the first few pics, he's laughing at Mommy's goofy voices. Then we played with one very fascinating toy... a washcloth. Which reminds me to tell you this... I noticed about a month ago that Davey loved his baths and might enjoy a toy or two while in the water. So, his super sweet Daddy goes to the store and picks out two bath toys. One is a rubber ducky dressed like a football player, which can detect whether the water is too hot. The second is a soft squishy seahorse that makes I guess a seahorse sound when you squeeze it. We named him Sammy the Seahorse. The name of the duck is still pending. Any suggestions? Anyway, point of the story is... Davey is interested in his toys for about 3 seconds. But he's absolutely spellbound by the washcloth.

Sleeping Like a King
We are having absolutely zero problems at night these days. Davey consistantly sleeps all through the night. Last night I bathed him, which he loves, then nursed him, read him a book, rocked him and laid him in his crib. He was sound asleep by 8:30. The next time he woke up was 8:15 this morning. Fantastic isn't it! Now the only person getting poor sleep in this house is big Dave :) He's the shleeeepy one around here.
Here are pictures of the babyman enjoying his Fugi apple puree this morning.

It's hard to see but he has apple bits hanging from his chin. |
Yummy :) |
I still can't decide who he looks more like, David or me. |

First Solid Foods...Mastering the Art of Eating
I am going to town on our blog today. Everybody in the house is napping... the hubs in our bed, Davey in his crib, and Rocco and Miss Willow are passed out on the floor next to me. Which means Mommy gets to entertain Mommy. I could finish the Christmas decor or brag more - I mean blog more - about our handsome son. So, more blogging it is!
Something I've been a bit anxious about is starting Davey on solid foods. Per expert advice, he's only had breastmilk up until now. I've been nursing him for more than 5 months. For me, breastfeeding our son has been totally and completely rewarding. I can say that, now that I have less than a month til I switch him to bottles and solid foods. But back when he nursed every 2 hours, night and day, caused me headaches, chest aches, dehydration and fatigue, not too mention the fact that he had a serious preference for the left one and fought tooth and nail when nursing from the right, I was very close to giving up. I'm overjoyed that I stuck with it. But now we're moving into a new phase with the kiddo and I've been somewhat apprehensive about starting solids. Last week, we took the plunge. At least once a day now, it's all about purees and soft heat-detecting spoons.
His first time sitting in his high chair... |
We played a little so he would be comfortable. |
Then, the moment of truth... |
and there it is, folks. Mushed bananas with milk... not a big hit. |
More protests. |

Don't remember what he's eating here, prob apple puree since he's happy. |

Not a big fan of the spoon. |

He is definitely wearing more food than he swallowed. |
