Walking to tball

Davey had another tball game this weekend and it went great. He got a few hits and ran the bases and he stood in the field and looked really cute. Oakley is his biggest fan in the stands.

It's cool at the pool

YAY summer summer summer! Believe it or not, Ohio has swimming pools. Hard to believe with its winters being so devoid of anything remotely close to outdoor comfort. The sun ceases to exist in Ohio four to five months a year, so it's weird that you can also sweat here. Oakley isn't totally sure about swimming pools yet. Makes perfect sense considering he's been in a pool maybe only twice in his life. Whereas Davey went to our neighborhood pool in San Antonio 3 or 4 times a week before he was Oak's age. Then he spent a ton of time at Schlitterbaun the summer he turned two. Oak is noticeably different than Davey when it comes to being in the water. Oak is pretty skiddish if it goes past his ankles. He prefers to just walk around the water and play on the handrail.

Hey kid, share with me

Willowdog is wanting some of that yumminess in Oakman's cup

Feeling healthy and happy

My babies will be wearing matching swim trunks and summer hats as long as I can make them. We got the baby pool filled up in the backyard this afternoon and the boys are being cute and goofy.

We hate hives

Here's a pic of what his hives looked like Thursday afternoon. They improved and then would get worse. They moved around his body slowly spreading down to his feet. His feet had big itchy welts around 3am Friday morning and his fever was higher too. I gave him benadryl and acetaminophen and wrapped his feet in a wet washcloth. He was able to fall back asleep and when he woke up around 9:30 Friday morning, the fever was gone and 95% of the hives were too. So we went to the park to celebrate and feel happy (and hopeful) that the worst of the virus was behind us.

Feeling better

We celebrated Davey feeling better by visiting a playground yesterday. It made him so soo happy. His fever is gone and so are the hives. He's not at full energy yet but he's doing much, much better.

Our sick little boy

We've been having an eventful last two days. Little Monkey here became really sick Tuesday morning with a 102 fever. He missed school that day. We hoped the fever would pass fast so he could make it to his preschool graduation Tues night. Nope, sadly. His fever rose to 103.5 and he was so dizzy and nauseated he couldn't raise his head off the pillow without wanting to throw up. I had to carry him to the car to take him to see his pediatrician. She says it's just a virus and it'll last a few more days. He had to stay home and miss the very last day of school yesterday, which bummed us all! His two teachers called to wish him better and say they missed him and enjoyed having him in class this year. I was so heavy hearted that he didn't get to say goodbye to his friends and teachers and get to enjoy his classroom for the last time. He was very disappointed too, but more than anything he just wants "this sickness to leave and go away forever!" This morning his fever is lower even without medicine. ..it's 100.5.. the lowest it's been, but he's developed big rash with giant welts over his belly, bottom, neck and face. His nurse says it's likely the virus causing it but if it doesn't improve during the day then I should bring him back to see the doc this afternoon. I think I'm already seeing the rash begin to disappear. It looked worse a couple hours ago.

Watching tball game #3

Hubs and Oaks are watching big brother play some tball. And it's been exciting because for the very first time Davey made a play in the field!  The batter hit a grounder to Davey and our little monkey baller stopped it with his glove, scooped it up, and threw it to first base. That batter was out! ..well if they kept track of that sorta thing which they don't in tball. But we whoooped and cheered after his big play and even he did too. He was so happy! He's been trying really hard to learn from the coach and big Dave how to use his glove in the field and what to do when the ball is hit to him. So after his awesome throw to first base, he looked over at us with surprised eyes and started jumping up and down with his arms up high and a giant smile. I swear to Mickey Mantle that's as proud of a moment as it gets. Of course the play was cool but mostly it was seeing my growing little boy celebrate himself and what he didn't know he could do. I did this involuntary laughter and tears thing mommies do. Yes buddy you are awesome!

Swings are fun

These boys love to swing. Usually Davey Tre does not sit in the baby swing but he thought it would be funny.

Brownie fan

The boys said the weather was so nice they wanted to eat dessert on the deck. Little man here is super happy right now... he gets to be outside, have his brownie and eat it too!

WATCH: Davey Tre gets a hit

When the video starts, you'll see a kid with a bat... that's not Davey. It's another kid warming up. Look past that kid to home plate and then you'll see our little Monkey up to bat. He gets a good hit!

WATCH: Boys bowling together

This was Oak's first time bowling. He first thought it was bad when the ball knocked over the pins so he kept yelling 'Nooo!' whenever that happened. But then he figured out that was a good thing and we were actually trying to hit the pins. I think we're ready to join a family league and win a championship.

Mother's Day brunch

My three sweethearts treated me to a Mom's Day brunch yesterday and made me feel so special! Oakley liked the buffet spread and ate like a champion. I actually heard a guy at a table next to ours tell his wife "that kid is a really good eater." Also, Oakley was surprised to see me wearing something so nice. These days my jewelry is used only for treasure hunting. I let the boys pretend they're pirates and play in my jewelry box and pull out "treasures". That's about the most action my old work costume jewelry sees these days. So when Oak saw me dressed like this, he looked confused and said "wear treasure? No mommy wear treasure" and he tried to pull the necklace off me. Oh well.

Strike!

My cuties took me bowling today. Davey Tre bowls better than I do.

Tball game #2

Oakley is hanging out near big brother who's warming up on deck.

BBQ night

We went out for some of our fave bbq last night. It was so nice and comfortable outside we had to eat outdoors. Oaks here is waiting patiently (with all his usual cuteness too) for his pulled chicken to arrive.

What manners?

Oh I'm sorry...Is my foot on the table bothering you? Tough shit I'm comfy.

Dandelion hunter gatherers

No dandelion is safe from these two...

Doing what boys do

They discovered this giant rock at the playground and so naturally they had to climb on top of it and jump on it...cause that's what you do.

Dinosaur tamer

Just a casual morning around here perfecting our dinosaur riding skills while standing up.

At the fishing hole

We walked to the neighborhood pond for some fishing and frog catching. Oakley is pointing at something - a fish, a frog, a ripple in the water, we aren't sure.

Frog patrol king

Here's hubby creeping up quietly to catch a big frog in the pond. Yes in his hand is a super tiny net. Believe me he's remarkably amazing at catching huge pond frogs with that teensy net. And those frogs are fast too! Davey Tre and I were big time impressed (and amused).

Mommy see Mommy do

He started it. And I happily joined in.

Holding hands to the playground

They grabbed hands to walk from the baseball fields to the playground so now they can both get dirty...

First Tball Game

Look at our Little Slugger!! Even has his eyes on the ball!

Nobody puts baby in a bucket

This is why grocery shopping with my boys is never a bore... He thought this would be funny. I laughed.
